VINELink Covers Cocke County Custody
Tennessee runs its official VINE service through VINELink. Users pick Tennessee, search by name or offender ID, open the record, and choose a notification option. The contract links VINE to all 95 county jails. It handles fields for custody, holding facility, transfer, release, parole, and supervision. Not every field shows in every record. New bookings do not land instantly.
Hurricane Helene made this matter in Cocke County. Flood damage shut the local jail. Inmates were placed in other counties. A Cocke arrest record can stay local while VINE lists a remote holding facility. That label shows current custody, not the county where the arrest occurred.
The TDOC announcement describes Tennessee VINE and its notification service.
The state also confirms live operator support for the service.
Check a Cocke County Arrest
Search with more than a name. An age or birth date prevents mix-ups between people who share one.
- Open VINELink and choose Tennessee.
- Select the available custody category or county filter when the interface offers one.
- Enter the last name and enough additional name details to narrow the result. Use an inmate, TDOC, or other identifier when known.
- Open a likely record and compare the full name, identifier, custody status, and holding facility.
- Check any displayed transfer or release information and note when the record was updated.
- When multiple people match, do not choose based on name alone. Confirm with the Cocke detention custodian.
The VINELink search interface provides the official starting screen.
VINELink checks one person at a time. It is not a browse gallery of arrested people. If nothing comes back, try a spelling variant first. The person may be newly booked, released, transferred, held by another agency, or outside the category you searched. Then call detention at 423-623-9043 or 423-613-9128 for the current holding spot.
What Cocke VINELink Shows
The state system lists several possible data fields. What appears depends on the record and custody category, so leave blank fields alone.
| Possible field | Meaning and limit |
|---|---|
| Name | Identity label; verify spelling and another identifier |
| Inmate or offender number | Helps separate similar names |
| Custody status | Current participating status, not a complete arrest history |
| Holding facility | May be a remote county holding a Cocke prisoner |
| Transfer location | Can explain a facility change |
| Scheduled release | May change because of court orders or holds |
| Parole or supervision event | Applies to relevant state records, not every local booking |
VINE can show a status with no booking photo. Its job is custody tracking and alerts. For the Cocke booking record or a held image, ask the Sheriff's records custodian, and use the court file for the legal outcome.
VINE answers custody only. The court file carries everything else about the case.
Register for Cocke Custody Alerts
Options include phone, text, email, TTY, and automated calls, though the exact menu varies by record. Registration is free.
- Open the correct person’s record after verifying identity.
- Select “Get Notified” or the equivalent control.
- Choose an available phone, text, email, TTY, or other offered method.
- Enter the destination carefully and complete any confirmation step.
- Create a personal identification number when prompted and keep it in a secure place.
- Review what events trigger the registration, such as release, transfer, or another custody change.
TDOC posts a 24-hour operator line, 888-868-4631. Operators help with the VINE service itself. For urgent Cocke holding or visitation questions, the local detention office still comes first. A PIN lets you manage and verify notifications. Never post it publicly, and confirm any surprise alert with VINELink and the holding facility before acting on it.
Why Cocke Transfers Matter
Cocke County's custody disruption makes transfers more than a routine field. After the facility damage, inmates went to Jefferson, Sevier, and other counties. Official county reporting and regional news document the moves. A transfer alert means a new physical location. The Cocke case and booking stay tied to the original jurisdiction.
Three offices hold different pieces. The arresting agency owns the incident report. Cocke detention controls the local booking record. The receiving jail runs housing and visitation. VINE links participating custody events but merges none of these files.
When a transfer alert lands, write down the new facility and call it for local procedures. Transfer does not mean release or a new charge, and case questions belong in the court portal.
Fresh Arrests Can Reach VINE Late
VINE is not a real-time screen. A fresh Cocke arrest can sit unseen while officers transport the person. Jail staff must verify identity, and charges take time to enter. Custody data then moves between local and statewide systems. The statewide contract describes transaction and population data flows, but that is not a posting guarantee.
For an arrest you believe just happened, use the Arrests Last 24 Hours fallback sequence. Open the Sheriff app's live menu first. Then call detention. Do not trust an unofficial private card as proof of custody or release.
A delayed search has another trap. The person may already be released, though a records request can still pull the maintained booking record.
VINELink Does Not Cover Everything
VINELink has clear limits. It is not the Federal Bureau of Prisons locator, the ICE detainee locator, or a U.S. Marshals name search. BOP covers federal inmates. Its locator offers no booking photograph. ICE requires an A-number and country of birth, or exact identity fields, for immigration custody. Marshals prisoners often sit in contract facilities. Someone may not appear in BOP yet.
VINELink also falls short for Cocke County history. It is no arrest log, warrant database, court docket, or photo service. The Sheriff keeps the booking record. The clerk handles disposition, and an attorney or the court handles a personal warrant question. These channels stay separate because each reflects a different custody or legal state. A blank result never proves an arrest did not occur, so check spelling, timing, custody category, and the responsible agency. Tennessee VINE cannot rebuild a sealed or expunged case, and older record questions belong with the court or official custodian.
Verify Cocke County Alerts
Automated alerts help. Confirm them whenever a decision hinges on timing. A scheduled release date can shift. A detainer, a hold placed by another authority, can affect movement. Transfer can mimic release from the old facility. Data corrections also trigger changes.
Call the facility named in the record first. Then ask the Cocke County detention contact whether the booking stays active under its authority. For a paper trail, file a targeted Tennessee Public Records Act request, and for a charge outcome, search the Cocke court portal with the case number.
Treat alerts as first notice and confirm release, transfer, and holding details with the responsible facility.
